A solid eighteen carat white gold Cartier dress watch on an alligator band, with white gold deployant buckle. This is an elegant and classic wristwatch, in superb unpolished condition. The double oval case perfectly frames the immediately recognizable clean, white enamel Roman "Paris" signed dial with outer round chapter ring in excellent condition with no crazing. The classic blued steel trademark Cartier hands that are seen across the line are also used here. As is the iconic cabochon sapphire set winding crown.
The screw back case back has a number of markings. There is the full Cartier stamped reference number located below 'Paris'. There is a fine 'Swiss Made' and '18k' to the left edge, and at the top the 'Cartier' signature itself. Inside the case is the Minerva head mark for eighteen carat gold, along with '18k 750' and the hammer head makers mark with number "112" for makers Guillod Gunther SA, a luxury watch case maker still in operation today with over one hundred and fifty years of experience.
The watch is powered by an ETA caliber 2412, seventeen jewel, unadjusted mechanical manual wound movement. ETA is a giant in movement manufacturing having made movements for a huge number of watch companies since their inception in 1793. Many, if not nearly all Cartier watches from the 1970's through to the 1990's were powered by an ETA movement.
The watch is presented in excellent original and untouched, unpolished condition throughout. This is a very rare white gold example with matching deployant. This is the smaller version of this watch, launched in 1973. This model also came in a larger "mens" size. An elegant and timeless classic, in shape and design that is very appealing with all of the trademark Cartier D.N.A.
Please note the original crystal has some scratching to it. The watch comes with a Foundwell one year warranty.
